Public Audit Committee Member
Wolf Creek Public Schools is seeking one (1) member at large to serve on its Audit Committee. The purpose of the audit committee is to assist the Board of Trustees in fulfilling its oversight responsibilities for the financial reporting process, the system of internal control over financial reporting, the audit process and compliance.
The Audit Committee normally meets for two half days per year usually in September and November in Ponoka, AB. However, additional meetings may be required.
The Audit Committee is seeking:
A member of the community, who is independent to the Division, the Board, and has no relationship with the audit firm.
An ideal public audit committee member would have:
- Financial literacy, meaning the ability to read and understand complex financial statements and accounting issues
- A strong understanding of governance
- Understanding of the public sector decision making process and accountability framework, including the unique role of this committee
- That their employment or involvement in other activities will not place them in a conflict of interest
- Effective communication skills
- Strong support for ethics

The Board of Trustees will review and choose a public member taking into account experience, background and compatibility with the Audit Committee.
