Substitute Teacher Registration 2024/2025
PLEASE READ THE INFORMATION BELOW CAREFULLY TO ENSURE YOU REGISTER FOR THE CORRECT SESSION. FEEL FREE TO REACH OUT TO PEOPLE SERVICES IF YOU HAVE ANY ADDITIONAL QUESTIONS.
NEW SUBSTITUTES
New Subs-“New subs” are defined as Teachers who have never been employed in any capacity (including as an EA) by WCPS. All “New Subs” are required to attend an orientation session.
PLEASE NOTE: New Substitute Teachers will be compensated for their attendance (at the half-day substitute teacher rate) at the mandatory substitute orientation after completing the online application and completing their first day worked. (on scheduled pay dates)
Orientation sessions will provide:
- Opportunity for networking and support.
- Overview of the online substitute absence management system.
- Overview and onsite completion of annual compulsory Occupational, Health, and Safety Training (OH&S). Recertification of OH&S training is required annually for all WCPS teachers and substitute teachers.
- Overview of WCPS Substitute Guidelines.
Orientation Session(s) scheduled for:
- August 29, 2024 (4:00-5:30 P.M.)
- September 17, 2024 (4:00-5:30 P.M.)
- October 15, 2024 (4:00-5:30 P.M.)

RETURNING TEACHERS & EMPLOYEES
Returning Substitute Teachers and Employees (INCLUDING RETIRED TEACHERS) -“Returning Substitute Teachers and Employees” includes anyone who has worked for WCPS in any capacity (including retired teachers, former contract teachers, and substitute teachers).
Attendance at an Orientation session is optional; however, you must complete the form to choose either a session or completion of Hour Zero on your own to ensure you remain as an active sub for 24/25.
PLEASE NOTE: Returning Substitute Teachers will not receive compensation for attending the substitute orientation, as this is optional for returning subs.

- September 16, 2024 (4:00-5:00 P.M.)

NEW OR EXISTING CONTRACTED TEACHERS
New or Existing Contract Teachers- A teacher who holds a part-time contract for the 2024/2025 school year and would like to be added to the 2024/2025 WCPS substitute list does NOT need to attend an orientation session.
In order to be placed on the contracted teacher sub roster, please complete the Google Form linked HERE.
