WCPS Proud to Help Launch the Future of Trades at Olds College

Wolf Creek Public Schools (WCPS) was proud to join Central Alberta Collegiate Institute (CACI) partners and Alberta Education Minister Demetrios Nicolaides on April 2, 2025, at Olds College of Agriculture & Technology to celebrate the official ribbon-cutting of the newly renovated Metals Building.
Made possible by the 2023 collegiate grant from Alberta Education, this revitalized facility will support up to 21 dual credit students per class, equipping them with industry-ready skills and launching them into rewarding careers in Alberta’s skilled trades workforce.
Highlights of the renovation include:
- A fully modernized former welding shop
- A brand-new fourth welding shop space
- A machine shop with multiple lathes, a milling machine, plasma table, and fabrication tools
This major investment—one of the largest K–12 collegiate facility grants to date—creates long-term opportunities for hands-on learning and skill development across Central Alberta.
Guests at the celebration heard from Minister Nicolaides, toured the new facility, and marked the occasion with a ceremonial ribbon cutting. Attendees included students, senior leaders, trustees, and representatives from education and government.
