Assistant Principals at PSC and Acting Principal at PES Appointed
Assistant Principals Appointed for Ponoka Secondary Campus
Ponoka — Wolf Creek Public Schools is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Cody Baird and Mr. Riley Quance as the assistant principals for Ponoka Secondary Campus (PSC), effective for the 2019-2020 school year.
Mr. Baird has been a teacher at PSC since 2011, began his Master in Education in 2014, and was instrumental in building football and literacy programs. Mr. Quance has been the principal of Alix MAC School since 2013, earned his Master in Education in 2013 and has been heavily involved in coaching school athletics.
"I am fortunate to have been chosen as one of the new assistant principals of Ponoka Secondary Campus and look forward to working with Mrs. McTaggart and Mr. Baird as an administrative team,” said Mr. Quance. “It will be my privilege to work with the students, staff, and communities of Ponoka Secondary Campus.”
“I am extremely excited to start my new role within PSC, as the school is a place that I have fallen in love with over the past eight years,” said Baird. “This new role will allow me to fulfill and develop my passion for leadership, while allowing me to build relationships so that I am able to support our school's needs starting next fall. He brings a rich background of leadership experience in K-12 schooling that will enhance the school community."
WCPS is excited to have Mr. Baird and Mr. Quance join Mrs. McTaggart as a strong administrative team for PSC.
Nathan McEntee Appointed Acting Principal for Ponoka Elementary School
Ponoka — Wolf Creek Public Schools is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Nathan McEntee as acting principal of Ponoka Elementary School (PES), for the 2019-2020 school year.
Mr. McEntee has been assistant principal at PES since August 2018 and is First Nations, Metis and Inuit lead teacher at PES.
“I am excited to continue my journey in leadership at Ponoka Elementary School next year as acting principal. Since starting as a teacher here at PES in 2010, I knew this place was ‘my home’ and where I should be,” said McEntee. “We have an amazing team of teachers and support staff here, as well as a very active and involved parent community that I am looking forward to continuing to work with.”
“We are very fortunate to have Mr. McEntee step into this role at Ponoka Elementary. He is a well-respected staff member who will build upon strong relationships in the school and community to confidently lead Ponoka Elementary School,” said Corrine Thorsteinson, Assistant Superintendent — People Services.
