IRSC Announces Grade 12 Programming Update for 2024-2025 School Year
In our ongoing commitment to provide exceptional educational experiences, Iron Ridge Secondary Campus (IRSC) has been actively engaging with families as we determine expected enrollment for the 2024-25 school year. As part of what is known as grandfathering, students currently enrolled in grades 10-11 at École Secondaire Lacombe Composite High School (ÉSLCHS), but who reside in the new Blackfalds attendance boundary, have been given the option to remain at ÉSLCHS.
Through this process, we have received valuable feedback from both students and parents. It has become clear that a significant majority of current grade 11 Blackfalds and area students express a strong desire to continue their education at ÉSLCHS for their Grade 12 year. This majority preference has been a key factor in guiding our decisions for the upcoming academic year.
Given this context, IRSC will be unable to offer programming for students in Grade 12 for the 2024-2025 school year. This decision has not been made lightly and reflects our dedication to providing the best possible educational pathways for our students, based on their needs and aspirations.
We understand that this news may be disappointing for some, and we want to assure our community that we remain deeply committed to the educational journey of all our students. We continue to be excited and enthusiastic about the programming IRSC will offer for grades 9-11, which promises to be both dynamic and enriching. We will move forward to plan for IRSC to serve grade 9-12 students beginning in September of 2025.
We appreciate your understanding and support as we navigate these changes. IRSC remains steadfast in its mission to deliver outstanding educational experiences, and we are excited to move forward together with our students and families.
