New Principal Appointed to Ponoka Outreach School
Mr. Ian Tisdale has been appointed as the new principal of Ponoka Outreach School, effective at the start of the 2016/2017 school year.
Ian has been an assistant principal this past year at Princeton Secondary School in Princeton BC which is nestled in the BC Interior, south of Kamloops.
Ian has well established roots in Central Alberta. He taught with Chinook's Edge School Division for 8 years (River Glen School and the new Penhold Crossing School) and also for 6 years with Wild Rose School Division. Throughout these roles, Ian was involved in AISI as a literacy coordinator, and an assessment coordinator. He was a career counselor, grad coordinator and also coordinated school trips to California and Europe. Ian is an avid coach with a background in volleyball, basketball, and cross-country running. He also has rich experience in Minor Hockey in Eckville and this past year in Princeton. Ian's wife Marcia is an EA / Librarian at Eckville Elementary.
When asked about his appointment, Ian stated, “I am excited to become part of the Wolf Creek family and absolutely thrilled to be joining the incredible team at Ponoka Outreach School. I am looking forward to the upcoming years as we work together to enhance success for all students in Wolf Creek.”
“Ian is clearly a passionate leader who brings with him a diverse teaching background that will support the very positive directions at Ponoka Outreach School," said Corrine Thorsteinson, Acting Assistant Superintendent, People Services. “Ian will be a wonderful addition to Ponoka Outreach School and to our Wolf Creek administrative team”.
Ian is currently working on his M.Ed in Educational Leadership with the University of Lethbridge, with a completion date in the fall of 2017.
